Fidelma Healy Eames is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on July 14, 1962 in Moylough, County Galway, Ireland. Fidelma Shealy Eames (born on July 14, 1962) is an ex- Irish politician and a former members of Seanad Eireann. Her first election into the Senate in 2007 by the Labour Panel. As part of the Reform Alliance group, she was an independent senator after having been sacked as her position as the Fine Gael parliamentary party whip in July 2013. In March of 2016, she announced her resignation from politics. In April 2019, Healy Eames was named on the list of candidate candidates in the 2019 European Parliament election in Ireland.

She was elected Senator by sitting TDs and councilors in 2007 and was appointed as the Fine Gael Seanad (senate) spokesperson for Education and Science. She was named as the Fine Gael Seanad Spokesperson on Social Protection and member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Affairs as well as the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Science. Healy Eames served as in charge of the Fine Gael Seanad Spokesperson on Social Protection until July 2013 and was then exiled by the Fine Gael parliamentary party after refusing to follow the whip of the party by refusing to support the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill 2013. 13 September 2013 she and six other exilees were part of The Reform Alliance, described as an “loose alliance” rather than an actual political party.

In March 2015, she attracted press attention for a tweet in which she claimed that were Ireland to legally recognise same-sex marriage, it could mean an end to the celebration of Mothers Day in the country. As evidence, she claimed that various U.S. states had banned Mothers Day and Fathers Day, referring to it as “political correctness gone mad”. When critics pointed out that her claim regarding U.S. states was untrue, she retracted that statement, commenting that she meant to refer to a number of U.S. schools. In defending her comments, Healy Eames cited as her source Rense.com, a website run by Jeff Rense, a conspiracy theorist known for Holocaust denial, and criticised by the Anti-Defamation League. Critics in the Yes campaign accused her of employing scare tactics ahead of the May 2015 referendum on the issue.

In March 2016, she announced her intention not to contest the 2016 Seanad election, and plan to resign from politics.

The car of Healy Eames was confiscated by police in Galway city on the 2nd of July 2012 due to the inability to show the correct car license. She explained to The Galway Advertiser: “I was taking public transport up the hill and back to Dublin and I’d neglected the tax on my car. There’s no reason for me to do that. I was off the mark”. Healy Eames was punished for taking the Galway- Dublin train without having a ticket on the 12th of July 2012, ten days after her car was confiscated. She was found guilty and fined EUR1,850 in connection with the motor tax offense.

She later stated that she had been using the French pronunciation of Wi-Fi.
