Kashama was born the 26th of February, 1985 in Kinshasa, Congo and grew up in Brampton, Ontario. In his senior season at High School, Kashama was at both free and wide-receiving. He racked up 30 catches, which equates to 700 yards of receiving.

Kashama was chosen to the Calgary Stampeders in the 2008 CFL Draft with the 16th overall selection. He was back in Western Michigan in 2008 for his senior season. He signed as a player with Calgary on May 8th in 2009. Kashama was initially listed as a linebacker before he joined Calgary but was later upgraded to fullback in the course of the season.

Kashama’s older brother, Alain is also a player in the Stampeders. His sister Hakeem was a player for 3 CFL teams while the brother Tim Biakabutuka played for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. Kashama also has an older brother Bronley who will be attending Eastern Michigan University starting in 2009.

Fernand Kashama (born on 26th February 1985) is a former Canadian football defensive lineman who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was chosen with the Calgary Stampeders in the second round of the 2008 CFL Draft. He played for the college team of the Western Michigan Broncos. The team also included Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Kashama was a student at Boise State, Marshall, Rutgers and Western Michigan, before eventually selecting the latter. He began his studies at the school in January of 2004. He was redshirted during his freshman year in 2004. While he was a redshirt freshman during 2005, he was kicked with the offensive scout squad before being selected. After playing as a the tight end position for Western Michigan in 2005 and 2006, he was promoted to defensive lineman by 2007. The first time he played at the position, he appeared in every game and scored his first sack of his career against Temple on the 24th of November. In all, during his senior and junior seasons where he played as a defensive lineman the player recorded 14 tackles, as well as one sack.

On October 8, 2010, Kashama signed as a free agent with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the remainder of the 2010 season.
