Fergus Watts (born 21 September 1985) is an ex-professional Australian rules footballer , who played with the Adelaide Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Watts was an front line footballer. Later, he was the founder of Bastion Collective, reportedly the largest marketing agency that is independent in Australia. Watts is currently Bastion Collective’s executive chairman.
In 2009, shortly after his football career was over The 23-year-old Watts established the an advertising agency Bastion Group. He was employed by an agency for advertising, before deciding to start his own business.
Watts was a debutant in the AFL for St Kilda in the 2006 AFL season opening game in the match against West Coast, where he scored one goal. Transferred into the St Kilda’s Victorian Football League (VFL) affiliate Casey Scorpions, Watts broke his ankle within a week. His recovery was lengthy with five surgeries on his ankle and leg as well as a battle with pubic osteitis. While he returned to the VFL during the latter part of 2007 Watts was not able to get back into the AFL and, at the close of the season, he had to be exiled at the request of St Kilda.

Originating from England, Watts was educated at Wesley College, Melbourne and was a first round draft pick (14th overall) for the Adelaide Crows at the 2003 AFL Draft. Watts was able to make his AFL debut in Adelaide on 17th November, 2004 in the match against Western Bulldogs at AAMI Stadium. Watts participated in five games in 2004, scoring two goals. A promising future for Watts seemed certain. But, Watts was unable to get into Adelaide’s side during the entire 2005 AFL season but instead was a part of the Crows’ South Australian National Football League (SANFL) affiliate Woodville-West Torrens Football Club where he scored 10 goals during the 2005 SANFL semi-final.
Watts wanted to be traded with St Kilda at the end of the 2005 season because of the lack of playing opportunities in Adelaide. Watts’ dad Jim Watts was the then director at St Kilda, later leaving the club in June of 2006. A deal was struck with Adelaide and Adelaide, where St Kilda traded their first round selection (number 17 overall) during the 2005 AFL Draft in return for Watts.
In October 2015, the company changed its name to Bastion Collective. As of 2018, it was reportedly the largest independent marketing and communications group in Australia.
