Gylve Fenris Nagell (born Leif Nagell; 28 November 1971) also known as Fenriz is a Norwegian musician as well as a part-time music journalist and radio host online (with”Radio Fenriz”) “Radio Fenriz”) who is well-known as one two members of the duo known as extreme metal Darkthrone along with Nocturno Culto. While primarily a drummer the singer has also played guitar, bass and vocals for Darkthrone and a variety of different metal groups. Fenriz is famous for his vast knowledge of the metal genre as well as his enthusiasm for promoting underground bands, his self-made ethic, as well as his disdain for music industry stereotypes such as the “showbiz side of the music industry”. Fenriz is also known as the drummer in the studio of doom metal group Valhall and has also had many solo projects, including his folk-inspired black metal band Isengard as well as the dark ambient band Neptune Towers.

In 2016, it was widely reported that Fenriz had been elected to his local municipal council, Oppegård. He was elected for a four-year term as a substitute councillor for the Liberal Party, explaining that he would “have to step in when the usual people who go to the big meetings are sick or something”. Fenriz said: “They called and asked if I wanted to be on the list [of backup representatives]. I said yeah, thinking I would be like 18th on the list and I wouldn’t really have to do anything”. His “campaign” was a photo of him holding his cat with the caption “Please Don’t Vote For Me”.
