Fennis Marx Dembo (born on 24 January 1966) is a former American pro basketball star who played for the 1989 National Basketball Association champion Detroit Pistons. He was a small-forward, and was a part of the NBA for one year, averaged 1.2 points as well as 0.7 rebound in the course of 31 games. He was picked to the Pistons in the second round (30th overall) of the 1988 NBA Draft.
Dembo was not even a candidate for selection out from high school San Antonio, Texas, however, he did get a break when he was contacted by Wyoming’s former head coach Jim Brandenburg, who had previously served as a High School coach from the city (and was later to retire in San Antonio). Dembo’s visit to the campus is the very first time he’d been outside in snow. He also took a trip on a snowmobile in the course of the visit. There were no charges filed against Dembo however, Dembo was shaken by the incident and was anxious for the moment he had to speak with others or quit his home. Dembo was eventually capable of resolving the incident with help from counselors and time. The work he did for the Water District sparked an interest in engineering. He began to take courses on the field in the time that his schedule allowed. In the fall in 2009, he began a course fully in St. Philip’s College, which is a community college located situated in San Antonio. At the end of September 2009 He was enrolled in San Antonio’s University of Texas at San Antonio.

In Wyoming, Dembo had a impressive career that saw him become the top rebounder and scorer during Cowboys history. He scored 2,311 points and 954 rebound. He was a part of the Cowboys team that made it to the finals of the 1986 National Invitation Tournament. He retired his number, and he was a guest in the Wyoming’s Arena Auditorium during half time on the 7th day of December in 2019.
He was a player for several years in Europe as well as the CBA following being released from the Pistons and then retired in 1998.
