Clinton Loomis (born February 19 1988 Lancaster, California), popularly referred to by the name of Fear who is an American professional Dota 2 player and former coach. His career spans over more than a decade, Fear is one of the longest-running Dota players in the game. He was in the film alongside Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and Benedict Lim “hyhy” Han Long in the documentary Free to Play. Together with Evil Geniuses, he won more than a million dollars in the winner from The International 2015.

In January 2014 Fear along with EG co-player Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora were considered stand-ins for the team S A B O Y S, in alongside Sahan “KaTana” Gamage who was later dropped because of visa issues. The team was comprised of Artour “Arteezy” Babaev, Peter “ppd” Dager, and Ludwig “zai” Wahlberg. With a record of 16-2 over their three weeks of play The team was subsequently picked by Evil Geniuses as their team’s new Dota team. After being invited for The International 2014 Fear’s issues with his arm were too much for him to handle and he took over as the team’s coach. Mason “mason” Venne joined the team at his “carry” position. Despite the setbacks, EG managed to finish 3rd.

Fear and Evil Geniuses took third place at the Shanghai Major 2016. On June 26, Fear qualified with Evil Geniuses to The International 2016 by coming first in the Americas Qualifier Group Stage with a 5-1 record (and after defeating compLexity Gaming in a first place tiebreaker.) Fear and Evil Geniuses eventually finished third place in the event. After the tournament, Fear retired as a player, citing health issues, to focus on being the team’s coach.

After The International 2017, Fear rejoined the active roster of EG and assumed the captain role after the departures of zai and ppd. In May 2018, following a string of bad placements in Dota Pro Circuit tournaments, EG announced that Fear had been released but would remain a part of the organization in an undisclosed role. On December 14th 2018, Fear joined North American team J.Storm.

Team Fear Online Kingdom.Nirvana.int was among the teams that were invited for The International 2011, where after a remarkable three-to-one score in their group, they was able to finish a respectable 7th-8th The team took home $25,000.

Fear’s initial team was known as PluG Pullers Inc., and they were acquired in 2006 by CompLexity Gaming in 2006. The CompLexity Dota division shut down in 2007 Fear was able to relaunch PluG Pullers, but left the team after he was requested to be a part of Meet Your Makers. Fear was a part of MYM for about a year and then he quit the team just a few weeks before the team became into bankruptcy.

His next tour included Evil Geniuses, which lasted between March and December 2009, before his Dota division was cut off. Fear was then a part of the highly-rated Blight.int team, which switched sponsors before disbanding due to pay issues. This resulted in a period of absence for Fear because of commitments to his family and work made it difficult for him to play in a competitive manner.

EG took first place at the Dota 2 Asia Championships in February 2015. Later that year, Fear and the team won The International 2015, winning over six million dollars in prize money. After TI5, he transitioned from the “carry” to the “support” position to accommodate the return of his former teammate Arteezy. This new EG roster finished in third place in Frankfurt Major 2015 despite a strong showing early in the tournament.
