Vice President of Top Rank Carl Moretti announced that Gaibnazarov will start his career as a light heavyweight fighter at the StubHub Center in Carson, California on April 22 in a bout of 8 rounds. At his debut the fighter was Victor Vazquez (7-2, 3 KOs). Gaibnazarov was knocked out in the first round within 20 seconds. He was able to recover and stop Vazquez in just 1 minute 28 seconds of round 2. In a conversation with a translator he stated “I was a little bit hurried in the first round because it was my debut. I was maybe nervous and didn’t feel comfortable. Gaibnazarov put on pressure and landed straight shots, but was not able to stop Rosas and won the bout with all three scorecards, 80-72 and remaining unbeaten. On October 12, the news was released that Gaibnazarov will be as an undercard fighter for Vasyl Lomachenko against. Guillermo Rigondeaux on 9 December at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City. The unbeaten lightweight contender Steven Ortiz (7-0, 2 knockouts) has been confirmed to be the opponent, however , the fight was not held. Gaibnazarov’s next bout did take place under the card of Lomachenko to fight with Jorge Linares at the Madison Square Garden on May 12th, 2018. The opponents were Mexican boxer Jesus Silveira. The fight came to an end at the end of round 4, following Gaibnazarov knocked down Silveira twice. The first knockdown was made using two punches and the other was with a an uppercut, which was cleanly landed by the latter half of the time. The stoppage time was 2 minutesand 5 seconds.
