Falko Zandstra is one of the most popular and richest Speed Skater who was born on December 27, 1971 in Heerenveen, Friesland, Netherlands. Falko Zandstra (born 27 December 1971) was an ex- Dutch speed-skater. Due to his slim legs, the nickname was the Gespierde Spijker which means Muscular Nail.

After his professional life, Zandstra switched to marathon skating but had no luck and the sport was abandoned in 1999. Now, he owns his own business in the field of roof and wall plating known as Falko Dak & Wand in Heerenveen. He is engaged to the an ex- Dutch speed skating champion Ellen Linnenbank.

From 1994 onwards his career sank. In 1994 at the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer he took home Bronze in 1500 meters. He was fourth in the 10,000 and 5000 meters. He also took home his 1500 meters World Cup again. In 1995, he placed second at the European championships. In the World championships in the same year, he fell in the 1500 meters, when the arm band he was wearing (which can be used to mark the lane in which the skater started) on top of his skate. Due to this, he was unable to be able to compete in the 10,000 meters.
