Brancart holds the position of the Professor of Music (Piano) in the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington since 1994. She also was the chair of the piano department from 2002 until 2012. Her mentees and students include musicians from the concert stage (Jonathan Biss, and Jeremy Denk), competition winners, and faculty from the university piano department. She was previously a teacher with The Shepard School of Music at Rice University, San Francisco Conservatory of Music and at the Frost School of Music at University of Miami and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Brancart has been asked to judge competitions across America, Europe and South America like competitions in Europe, the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition (Belgium), International Piano Competition Andre Demortier (Belgium), International Piano Competition Maria Clara Cullell (Costa Rica) and the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition (United States).
Recordings include Chopin 24 Etudes (Delos) and the Brahms-Paganini Variations and Liszt-Paganini Etudes (Koch Discover). Brancart’s live performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto, K. 467, from the Queen Elisabeth Competition, released by Deutsche Grammophon. She also recorded in collaborative settings for Telefunken and Teldec Records (with Atar Arad, violist) and Boston Records (with cellist Anthony Ross). Chamber music collaborators in concerts settings have included Frederico Agostini, Joshua Bell, Jeremy Denk, Miriam Fried, Steven Isserlis, and Arnold Steinhardt. Brancart was the pianist of the Seraphim Trio for four years, and performed with the Cleveland, Pacifica and Orion String Quartets.
London premiere recitals held performed at Wigmore Hall, and Queen Elizabeth Hall in 1976 brought about BBC broadcast recitals as well as performances together with and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Brancart made her well-received American debut recital in the year 1982 (at New York’s Alice Tully Hall), and her resume includes recitals and performances in Europe, America, Asia and South America. in 1968 Brancart became the only musician to ever be invited to study under the tutelage of Queen of Belgium at the Chapelle Musicale of Reine Elisabeth which she was an honorary laureate in 1971. Brancart was later given the gold medal of the Belgian Government in the year 1978. She took 10 years of study with Spanish musician Eduardo del Pueyo (himself a pupil of Liszt’s her disciple Marie Jaell) and later with Maria Curcio, Leon Fleisher and Menahem Pressler.
Brancart gained a lot of attention for his performance as the prizewinner of Brancart’s participation in the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition (1975), Montreal International Piano Competition (1976), Viotti International Piano Competition (1979) and the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition (1986). Brancart also won an award for the ensemble division in the ARD International Music Competition (Munich 1984).
