Sanguinetti was born in Hialeah, Florida (near Miami) to the Cuban mother and an Ecuadorian father. Sanguinetti’s mother was an Cuban exile who was able escape Cuba through Puerto Rico in the early 1960s, before moving to on the continent of United States. Sanguinetti’s father moved into South Florida in 1966 with his brothers and mother, and eventually moved to Hialeah. Sanguinetti’s parents got were married in 1970. Sanguinetti arrived on the 12th of November 1970, when her mother was only 15 years old. When she was elected, Sanguinetti became the first Hispanic Lieutenant Governor of Illinois and one of the only Latina Lieutenant Governor within the United States.

In October of 2013, Sangunetti was selected to serve as the Lieutenant Governor’s running mate of Republican candidate Bruce Rauner. Sanguinetti was the winner of in the Republican Primary in February 2014 and was elected the nominee of the party as Lieutenant Governor. In November 2014, the ticket comprised of Rauner and Sanguinetti beat Rauner and Sanguinetti over the Democrat team that included Pat Quinn and Paul Vallas The result was that Sanguinetti was chosen to be The 47th Lieutenant Governor in Illinois. In 2007 Sanguinetti became ill with MS after being injured on a sidewalk that was used by the city of Wheaton, Illinois. In 2011, after Sanguinetti had regained the ability she had to stroll for long durations, Sanguinetti decided to run for an At-Large spot in the Wheaton City Council on a platform that would focus on infrastructure improvement and maintenance of sidewalks.

Evelyn Sanguinetti (born November 12 1970) is an American politician and lawyer who was Governor 47th Lieutenant for Illinois between 2015 and 2019. She was previously as a member of the Wheaton City Council. Sanguinetti announced her candidacy in the 2020 Illinois election in the 6th congressional district. She is contesting incumbent first-term Democratic incumbent Sean Casten, but dropped out on the 11th of October 2019.

Sanguinetti earned his degree from The John Marshall Law School in 1998. He was then an Assistant Attorney General for the state under the administration of the state Attorney General Jim Ryan. After departing from the Attorney General’s office at the end of 2003 Sanguinetti was a lawyer in Chicago in private law firms that represented police officers as well as various first responders of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. While working in the law Sanguinetti became an adjunct instructor for the John Marshall Law School.

Sanguinetti won the election and served on the Wheaton City Council until December 2014 when she resigned to become Illinois Lieutenant Governor. Her tenure was marked by renewed investment into the city’s infrastructure and fiscal responsibility.
