In a bid to participate in an international competition, in the month of December 2013, she moved the eligibility of her to Bahrain which is a thriving Middle-East state. She was allowed to race for her nation of birth on July 14, 2014. Kirwa took part in for the 2014 Boston Marathon, but for the first time, she was unable to complete the marathon. Kirwa won her 2nd marathon in her professional career on June. She took the top prize in the Lanzhou Marathon with a course record of 2:31.53 hours and a margin of victory of six minutes or more. The victory at the Luanda Half Marathon in 68:31 mins was an individual best, and elevated her to the top 10 of runners for the year. For her international debut with Bahrain she emerged from the race with the title of marathon champion at the 2013 Asian Games, beating Japan’s Ryoko Kizaki in the last portion in the marathon. It was Bahrain’s first-ever winner of the race at the Olympics.

Kirwa made her debut on the international stage for Kenya at age 15 at the first 1999 World Youth Championships in Athletics. Kirwa placed fifth in 1500 meters at the contest with her Kenyan counterpart Sylvia Kibet took silver. Her best outing of the season followed at the Paris Marathon, where she ran 2:23:34 hours for third place (ranking within the top twenty for that year). In the half marathon she was runner-up on three straight occasions: in Lisbon (ten seconds behind world champion Edna Kiplagat), Gifu (six seconds behind course record-breaker Mestawet Tufa), and Luanda. Her last race of the year was the Frankfurt Marathon, but another sub-2:24 run was only enough for fifth.
