Esther Nara Yoon (born November 7 1987) more popularly known as the stage name Esna (Korean: eseuna , often shortened as eSNa) is a Korean-American songwriter and singer who performs within South Korea. Her first stage play, eSNa The Singer, was released in October of 2015. She has also composed music for other musicians, such as the 2014 smash song “Some”.

In March 2015 Esna and Seulong released the track “Destiny”, for the soundtrack to the TV show Hogu’s Love. The song was written and recorded by Esna and Seulong, and served as the main theme of Seulong’s character in the show. The song was released in April. Esna as well as Mamamoo debuted the song they collaborated on “Ahh Oop! “, from Mamamoo’s album Pink Funky. The track was composed by Esna with lyrics that urged men to quit using the cliches of pick-up lines, and to show respect to women. It was aired by the music channels for two weeks, and was accompanied by a music video, which was produced and directed by Digipedi. Following the release of the song, Esna received a scathing critique of how she appeared from Korean online users. Esna then released a new version of the song, entitled “Ahh Shit! “, that includes its lyrics “All my ladies out there, you’re beautiful just the way you are”. The new version received a favorable review and Esna declared that she would like to alter the image-centric nature of K-pop.

Esna was born in Los Angeles, California and graduated from UCLA where she studied jazz vocals. She began her career in music by uploading cover music on YouTube before moving in 2010 to South Korea in 2010. The year 2011, when she appeared as an contestant on the singing competition show Superstar K3 (under her Korean name, Yoon Bitnara), and was cut off during the competition task.
