Erik Fresen is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on June 9, 1976 in Miami, Florida, United States. Erik Fresen (born June 9 in 1976) was an ex- Republican representative in the Florida House of Representatives, with the 114th District in charge that stretches between West Miami to Cutler Bay in the northeastern part of Miami-Dade County, since 2012 and previously represented the 111th District from 2008 until 2012.

Erik Fresen was recommended by The Miami Herald for State Representative District 114 on the 11th of October 11th October 11, 2014. In 2008 the year that State Representative Marco Rubio, the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives and the upcoming United States Senator, was ineligible to run again due to the limitation on his term, Fresen ran to succeed Rubio in the 111th district that ran across Hialeah up to South Miami in eastern Miami-Dade County. Fresen was up against Rafael Luiz Perez, a former advisor to Rubio in the Republican primary. He could only beat by a small margin and win with 52 percent of the vote against Perez’s 48 percent. When he was able to run for an election in the general, he was up against Frank Morra, the Democratic candidate, who he was able to comfortably beat in his first election in the legislature by securing 59% of votes. Re-electing in 2010, Fresen ran unopposed before having to face Democratic candidate Cristina Albright, whom he defeated by 64 percent of the votes.

In 2017 he pled guilty to tax evasion in 2011 and was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Fresen was named “legislator of the year” by Florida’s for-profit college lobbying group, the Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools & Colleges, in 2013. Fresen has received at least $25,500 from the “career college” industry, made up mostly of for-profit schools. A conflict of interest ethics complaint was filed against him in 2011 for voting on a proposal that would give benefits to some charter schools, and in the 2016 legislative session he has fast-tracked a bill to force Florida public school districts to share their construction tax money with charters.

In the event that the legislative districts of the state were drawn in 2012, the state’s legislators opted to contest re-election in the 114th District. Fresen was raised in Miami and went to Florida State University, receiving an education in international affairs and finance. After graduating, he worked as a legislative assistant from 2000 until 2002 then became consultant for land use at Holland & Knight from 2005 until 2008, and later for Civica from 2008 until the current.

On September 29, 2017, the Miami Herald reported that Fresen will serve 60 days in jail and a year of probation for failing to file a 2011 tax return. Although he was only charged for the missing 2011 return, he didn’t properly report his income to the IRS from 2007 – 2016, a period that included his years in the Florida House. He has since repaid all monies owed.
