He is the publisher of Image Comics, where he is also the co- creator and writer of comics like Long Hot Summer, Nowhere Men as well as They’re Not Like Us.
The year 2008 was the time that Stephenson became the position of Publisher for Image Comics, replacing Larsen. In this time, he was responsible for expanding Image’s range to include titles like Bitch Planet, East of West, Monstress, Saga along with The Wicked + The Divine. It was at this point that he began working on Nowhere Men and They’re Not like Us. It was in 2014 that Nowhere Men received four Eisner Award nominations, including Best continuing series The Best Writer Award, the Top Penciller/Inker, or Penciller/Inker Team, as well as Best Colorist.
In 2018, Image added Stephenson to its Board of Directors, naming him as the company’s Chief Creative Officer.
Stephenson worked alongside Valentino and Larsen in their roles as Publishers for Image Comics, first as Director of Sales & Marketing and then later, as the company’s Executive Director. Stephenson also edited and wrote two Image anthologies: Four-Letter Worlds (2005) and Put the Book Back on the Shelf A Belle & Sebastian Anthology (2006).
