Eric Donovan is one of the most popular and richest Boxer who was born on July 26, 1985 in Athy, County Kildare, Ireland. Eric Donovan (born 26 July 1985) is an Irish boxer from Athy, County Kildare. His accomplishments are the five Irish Elite titles and a bronze medal at the 2010 European Championships in Moscow, when he made the transition to professional boxing. He was the only boxer to take home the BUI Celtic title within five bouts.

Donovan has boxed with St. Michael’s Boxing Club, Athy where he was instructed under Dominic O’Rourke. He made his debut as a senior boxer in Bantamweight division, before moving up to Featherweight and then in 2007 to Lightweight. The first time he won an Irish Elite title came in 2004 in bantamweight, with the victory by points in the final against Brian Gillen in the final. Donovan was able to be the winner of the title five times. In March 2010, he defeated reigning world champion Domenico Valentino on points (11: 8), which set him up for the European Championship in Moscow. There he defeated Rashid Kassem of Denmark (10: 2) before overcoming Dimitri Bulenkow of Ukraine (10: 2) and then Miklos Varga of Hungary (10: 4) which guaranteed Donovan a bronze medal. Finally, he lost semi-final against Albert Selimov from Russia on points.

Donovan was one of six Irish boxers drafted in the 2012 season of the World Series of Boxing. Ireland had the biggest number of boxers drafted and Donovan joined the Astana Arlans of Kazakhstan along with Tyrone McCullagh during the international draft in Lausanne, Switzerland.

At the 2007, World Championships in Chicago, Donovan made the move up into the category of Lightweight and won victories over Miklos Varga who hails from Hungary (39:22) as well as Jonathan Batista from the Dominican Republic (21:4). In the following round, Donovan faced the favorite Italian Domenico Valentino, against who he fell by a score of points (12:29) and earned him a 9th place finishing at the championship.
