Eric Michael Devendorf (born April 21st in 1987) is an American former professional basketball player. Devendorf played for Syracuse between 2005 and 2009. He scored an average of 15.7 scores per contest during the final year at Syracuse. He’s at 14th place on Syracuse’s list of all-time scoring at 1,680. With just one year of eligibility, Devendorf decided to leave Syracuse and begin the path of a professional career. The next seven years in professional play with the NBA D-League and in foreign nations like Ukraine, Israel, Greece and New Zealand. In October of 2016 He came back to Syracuse after being named to the head coach Jim Boeheim’s team as assistant strength coach.

Devendorf did not make it into 2009’s NBA draft. On the 26th of December, 2009, he got a contract to the Reno Bighorns of the NBA D-League. He made his debut on the following day, scoring only 2 points over 14 minutes of action as the Bighorns beat the Tulsa 66ers 100-87. On January 4 of the Bighorns released him to the Bighorns.

On April 12, 2010, Devendorf was released by the Pistons following a bar conflict involving Hawks’ imports Josh Pace and Jamil Terrell. The next day, he signed with the Wellington Saints for the rest of the season. The Saints went on to win the 2010 championship.

On February 9, 2010, Devendorf signed with the Waikato Pistons for the 2010 New Zealand NBL season. He scored 49 points in the season opener.

Devendorf made his return to the Syracuse lineup after an effort of 14 points in the game against Le Moyne and 22 points against Oakland. On the 11th of December in 2008. Devendorf had been suspended for an indefinite period until he appealed the decision of Syracuse University. The suspension was an outcome of a university judge’s hearing that stemmed from an incident that involved Devendorf and female students. Devendorf has been accused of hitting her in the forehead during an altercation that took place in the early morning hours on the 1st of November. The board concluded that Devendorf was in violation of three of five student rules that he was accused of. In addition, Devendorf was already on discipline probation because of causing harm to a student during the spring semester of 2008. The university’s judicial panel suggested that he be detained for the rest of the academic year the recommendation of his trainer Jim Boeheim thought was too extreme. Devendorf, as expected, appealed.

Devendorf had led Syracuse in scoring in his first 10 games of the junior season.
