Enrique Luis Graue Wiechers (born on January 9th 1951) is a Mexican academic and Ophthalmologist. He is the Rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico as of November 17, 2015.
Graue has served on a variety of committees in his field of expertise. He was the sole Mexican to serve on the Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis . He has served as chairman of the Mexican Ophthalmology Society (1990) and The Mexican Ophthalmology Council (2004-06) and the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (2005-07) and also the vice-president of the International Ophthalmology Council. He is currently President of the National Academy of Medicine.
On November 6, 2015, Graue Wiechers was unanimously selected as the next rector of the UNAM. Graue succeeds José Narro Robles, another doctor, who occupied the post from 2007 to 2015. He is the tenth doctor to be rector of UNAM. On November 8, 2019, he was reappointed until 2023.
In the year 1975, Graue Wiechers taught at the Faculty of Medicine. He was appointed Coordinator for the Academic Ophthalmology Committee and then the Director of the Division of Graduate Studies and Research which that he held between 2004 and 2008. He was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in January 2008, and was reelected for the post in 2012.
