Enrico Coveri is one of the most popular and richest Fashion Designer who was born on February 26, 1952 in Prato, Italy. The designer unveiled his debut collection called Touche from Enrico Coveri in Milan in 1973. His innovative style earned him a name in fashion circles and also a symbol of the fashion trend “Made in Italy”. The first collection for women was unveiled at Paris in 1977. It brought immediate success and the acclaim of the fashion press and opinion makers. The menswear collection came shortly following. Sequins became his signature design; Le Figaro wrote: “Sequins are to Coveri what chains are to Chanel.”

One of the biggest prizes the creator was that of the Grande Medaille de Vermeil in Paris in 1987. Enrico Coveri also received the title of Commendatore of the Repubblica and was the sole person who was younger than 35 to be awarded this title.

A special honour was paid to the house when a street was named after the designer in 2004: Piazzale Enrico Coveri in Prato.

A model and stage designer, he created the fashion house whose name is a reference to Florence and was widely praised for his designs ever since his debut on catwalks in Milan and Paris in 1977.

The brand that was founded by Enrico Coveri launched several collections for men, women and children, and an assortment of jeans. The brand added cosmetics to its offerings in 1981. Coveri’s first scent for women that was released on the market in 1982, under the brand name Paillettes (sequins) which was later followed by his first fragrance for males, Enrico Coveri pour Homme. In Venice and at Palazzo Moretti, Coveri also hosted some of his most lavish masked balls. In 1985, the series You Young Coveri, created to appeal to a younger audience was released.

When Enrico Coveri died from lung cancer in 1990, he was succeeded by his sister Silvana. She was familiar with the job, because she had been his manager and assistant. Francesco Martini Coveri, Silvana’s son and the most talented of Enrico’s nephews, also started to be active in fashion design, by becoming Creative Director of You Young Coveri. He became one of the leading figures of the fashion house and is now the main designer and artistic director. Some of the awards he received for his work are the Premio Ago d’oro in 1998, Premio Donna Circe, Premio Arte e Immagine nel mondo in 2002, as well as the American “2004 Designer of the Year Award”.
