After completing his studies from the Faculty of Law from the University of Milan, Del Bono began his political career after as a city councilor in Brescia as well as being close to the former Minister and the mayor Mino Martinazzoli. From 1993 to 1994 Del Bono has been the provincial secretary of the Christian Democracy in the province of Brescia before was appointed regional secretary for the Italian People’s Party.
In the general election of 1996, Del Bono was elected to the Chamber of Deputies with the Olive Tree, being later returned in the 2001 election and the election of 2006.
