Dragieva made her international debut in an important event during the 1987 European Athletics Indoor Championships and she finished seventh in the competition with her highest jump of 1.88 meters (6 2 inches). She reached the height of her career just after in the 1987 IAAF World Indoor Championships. She smashed 2.00 meters (6 6′ 6″ / 2 inches) in the finals to win the bronze medal, just behind the fellow Bulgarian Kostadinova and German’s Susanne Beyer.
