Elvy Robichaud (born on April 3rd, 1951 in the town of Tracadie-Sheila New Brunswick) is a former Canadian politician from Canada. He was last elected in the year 2006 as a representative of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick for Tracadie- Sheila.

Robichaud was re-elected in 1999, and his party won the provincial election. He was elected to Cabinet as the Minister for Education and was the education minister from 2001 until his position was changed to Health as a portfolio.

Robichaud was again re-elected in 2003 and continued in the cabinet. On January 31, 2006 he announced he would not run again and would step down from the cabinet the next time it was shuffled. [1] He left the cabinet following the shuffle on February 14, 2006.

In 1995, he was elected to a second term when his party gained the status of the official opposition, under of former Cabinet minister of the federal government Bernard Valcourt. When Valcourt was forced to step down to become the president in the year 1997 Robichaud was appointed an interim leader up until the elections by Bernard Lord and as leader of the opposition following Valcourt’s resignation to the point that Lord was elected to a seat in an election in 1998 that was a by-election.

Robichaud attended in the University of Moncton where he obtained a Bachelor of Physical education Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Science as well as a Master’s degree in Education. He was a principal at a school and later hospital administrator throughout the 1980s and the early 1990s.

At the University of Moncton he was involved in student politics and was elected to the Tracadie city council back in the year 1983, serving a three- year term. The council was elected into the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick during a by-election in 1994. He was a Progressive Conservative, he was the first member of his party to be elected to a seat in the region from 1912. The party was in a state of struggle in the period and was a third-party within the legislative system.

For the 2006 New Brunswick election he served as Conservative campaign chairman.
