After finishing the course at the University of England, Koon returned to Hong Kong in 2000 where she began modeling for various magazines, ads and commercials.
Modeling became her full-time job since then In 2001 she got her first film part in the film “I Do”. The audition resulted in her signing an agreement for Boombeat Music and launched her singing career. The man was immediately arrested and later sentenced to 9 months imprisonment. Ella was not harmed by the incident and decided against pursuing legal action against the man.
