In his next start on September 27, Doug set an American League record by striking out nine batters in a row against the Kansas City Royals. This was just one short of the major league record (10) set by Tom Seaver in 1970. He finished the 2012 regular season with a 10-10 record and a 3.45 ERA in 26 starts.
