Kiraly (born on November 3, 1953, in Charlottesville, Virginia), is an American specialist in foreign language teaching as well as translator training.

In the winter 2012/2013 semester, Kiraly was given the Teaching Award from The Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

Then, in January of 1990, he was awarded the Ph.D. degree with his dissertation that was titled “Toward a Systematic Approach to Translation Skills Instruction” from the University of Illinois. From August until the end of November, 1999, he served as an instructor of the Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey (California) and from September 2008 until august 2012, Kiraly was an appointment as a visiting professor within the Ecole Superieure d’Interpretes et Traducteurs of the University of Paris III, in which he taught French-English, German-English translation, and Spanish as well as other topics. From 1990 to the present, Kiraly has published a variety of essays, two monographs, co-authored books, as well as two volumes edited on the subjects of teaching foreign languages and translation training.

Kiraly was a student of politics at Cleveland State University and obtained an bachelor of arts degree in June of 1976.
