Dominique Maltais (born 9 November 1980) is a Canadian snowboarder, specializing in cross-country snowboarding. She has been two-time Olympic medallist, having won the bronze award at the 2006 Torino Games and a silver medal at the 2014 Sochi Games. She also took part in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and was unable to make it to the final. In the FIS Snowboarding World Championships, she was awarded the bronze medal in 2011, and also a silver medal in 2013. She was her 2011 Winter X Games champion, and has been awarded the Crystal Globe as the overall FIS World Cup champion in snowboard cross five times in the years 2006 2011 and 2012, 2013, 2013 and 2014.

The XVI Winter X Games Maltais took home her first medal that was gold as well as X Games champion in 2012. The following year, she had numerous wins during the World Cup tour that year and also a home-country win on Blue Mountain. This win, along with other things contributed to her winning her second consecutive Crystal Globe championship as the overall winner of the FIS tour. The success continued into the next season, where Maltais was able to win several events during the beginning of the season. Maltais was also able to achieve an additional achievement by winning silver medal at 2013, the World Snowboarding Championships which took place in her hometown region of Quebec. In the finals, she was second, and finish close to her teammate Ricker who was the first to win their debut World Championship gold medal there.

At Turin, Maltais was in the final four alongside the fellow Canadian Maelle Ricker. Ricker was injured in the beginning stages and Maltais was thrown off the corner further down. After the two competitors (Tanja Frieden, and Lindsey Jacobellis) finished, Maltais was able to climb back up and finish in the final race. This earned the bronze medal. Dominique was disappointed in the performance in the 2010 Winter Olympics falling in both of her qualifying runs, and consequently was not able to make the finals.

In that event Eva Samkova who had dominated the event, from her fastest qualifying position through to the final, won gold but an elated Maltais followed her through for silver. The medal lifted a weight off of her and she said that “It’s a good revenge for Vancouver. I wanted to prove to the world that I could do better than in Vancouver. I’m so so happy it’s done and I made it and I finished on the podium.”
