On March 8, 2017, the last-placed group of 16-17 was 2. Bundesliga Erzgebirge Aue appointed Tedesco as the manager for the upcoming season. He scored 13 points in the first five games and finished the season 14th and preventing the club from being relegated. He ended the season with a record of six victories, two draws and three defeats.

After a 0–7 defeat against Manchester City in the Champions League round of 16 and seven winless games in a row, Tedesco was sacked on 14 March 2019.

The 1st of July in 2008, Tedesco began to work in the youth section from VfB Stuttgart as an assistant coach under Thomas Schneider. From 2013 onwards , he was the assistant coach of the under-17 squad before becoming head coach at the end during the course of the year. After the 2014-15 season, he quit Stuttgart to become the youth coach of 1899 Hoffenheim. In the following season, he was elevated to the position of under-19 coach before this season.
