Djan Faridz is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on August 5, 1950 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Faridz was born in Jakarta on the 5th of August 1950, to Mohammad as well as Aisha Djan. He was a student at St. Fransiskus Elementary School from 1957 until 1963. and then Kanisius Junior High School from 1963 until 1966, in addition to State Senior High School 2 Jakarta from 1966 until 1969. He later was a student at Tarumanagara University, where he received an architecture degree.

In 2004, Faridz began to be involved in the Muslim group Nahdlatul Ulama, becoming the Jakarta branch’s treasurer by 2009.

On October 17, 2011 he was chosen as the new Minister of Public Housing, which led to his withdrawing a bid to run for Governor of Jakarta. Also in 2011 he was chosen to lead the Jakarta chapter of Nahdlatul Ulama until 2014.

In 2000, the Indonesia Corruption Watch reported that Faridz was granted non- transparent funds to finance power substations. In 2004, Faridz was the leader of the reconstruction of the market for textiles at Tanah Abang, which sparked controversy. He has excellent relations with politicians and military leaders including the president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

As a representative, he focused on preserving Betawi culture and increasing Jakarta’s economic capabilities, with a focus on the traditional markets.
