In the year 1996, DJ Tira developed an interest in DJing while he was still in the varsity and he began DJing. Around 2001 , he released his debut album titled Real Makoya, which is an album of compilations DJ Khabzela. In 2005, he was contracted by the Oskido’s Kalawa Jazzmee. He was part of the group Tzozo En Professor and later created Durbans Finest together with Sox and was also signed part of Kalawa Jazzme Records. Dj Tira has a history with Oskido since he was that person who gave his first contract with a music label, from which point Dj Tira was a household name. He founded Ezase Afro which fell under Kalawa, later becoming a an independent. Tira along with Sox together, they made a compilation of albums that were titled Durbans Finest. In 2007, DJ Tira launched his recording studio Afrotainment and signed DJ Cndo as the first artist signed to Afrotainment. As he was working on the studio, he was an music director. In the same year, DJ Tira joined the kwaito the group Big Nuz after relocating from Johannesburg to their hometown, Durban. In 2008, DJ Tira as an artist featured, he made two appearances on the urban radio charts as well as music shops charts along with the Big Nuz’s “Ubala Lolo” and DJ Clock’s “Mahamba Yedwa”.
