Dino Alex Ebel (born March 20th in the 20th of March,) was an American former professional baseball player who is now a coach. Ebel is the current third base manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was previously the manager of baseball for several teams within the Los Angeles Angels system for nine years.
After 17 years within the Dodgers organization, Ebel joined the Los Angeles Angels organization in 2005 as the head coach for the Salt Lake Bees of the PCL that recorded a 79-65 mark under his direction. When the long-running manager of the bench Joe Maddon left the Angels organization to take over his own team, the Tampa Bay Rays, Ebel was named to the Major League team’s coaching staff as Mike Scioscia’s 3rd base coach. When Ebel as the coach of third base Scioscia was his advocate for for a more aggressive approach to baserunning.
On October 8, 2013, Ebel succeeded Rob Picciolo, who was fired by the Angels, as the bench coach in 2014. Ebel is known for his loud whistle, which he uses to relay defensive alignments, such as shifts, during games.
On November 28, 2018, he was named to be the new third base coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In 1991, he worked as an assistant coach to players of the Bakersfield Dodgers of the Class A-Advanced California League. This post he held until 1994. He also served as a coach of the High-A San Bernardino Spirit, also from the California League, in 1995 before becoming a full-time coach for the San Antonio Missions of the Class AA Texas League in 1996. He began his management career in 1997 at San Bernardino, taking the control of the team late during the year. He was the manager of the Great Falls Dodgers of the Rookie-level Pioneer League in 1998, having a record of 40-35. The year 1999 was the time he helmed the Yakima Bears of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League. The team was back in San Bernardino in 2000, and helped the team win winning the California League title. He was transferred into the South Georgia Waves of the Class A South Atlantic League the following year, and recorded a record of 75-63. He guided Jacksonville Suns to the Jacksonville Suns to the Class AA Southern League East Division Championship and also served as the team’s manager until 2004.

Ebel was a student at San Bernardino Valley College. He was selected at the 27th spot (365th overall) of the amateur draft of The Philadelphia Phillies, but elected to go to Florida Southern College, where Ebel was a part of his 1988 NCAA Division II championship squad.
Ebel was signed by The Los Angeles Dodgers organization as free agents, and was named the rookie-level Gulf Coast League (GCL) Player of the Year during his 1988 season as a rookie with the GCL Dodgers. Ebel was promoted to the Vero Beach Dodgers of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League (FSL) in 1989. He also was a part of the team that was crowned 1990 FSL champions. As of 1991, Ebel was promoted to the Albuquerque Dukes of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League (PCL) and was employed as an utility player. In the 1989 and 1990 off-seasons, Ebel also played in the Australian Baseball League with the Dodgers Australian affiliate, the Adelaide Giants.
