In 2011 Pride was active in fundraising for Alabama residents affected by the devastating tornado that hit his home town of Tuscaloosa. Participating in the category of past champions (which is in the middle on the PGA Tour exemption priority list), Pride started his 2012 campaign by securing two straight top ten places, including a T-5 in the Mayakoba Golf Classic and a T7 during the Honda Classic. Pride achieved his best result since his last PGA Tour win at the 2012 HP Byron Nelson Championship, coming in second place behind Jason Dufner. Pride was tied for leading spot on hole 72 but he missed his tee-shot to the water-hazard to the left. He was able to save the par by putting in a 22-foot shot following a great approach shot. Dufner made the birdie from 25 feet in the same spot on the green, which denied Pride his first win in more than 18 years (a victory would have set the PGA Tour record for longest period between victories, surpassing Robert Gamez by over two years). In all, Pride played in 19 events, took 12 cuts and earned $1,259,712. He also played in three rounds in the FedEx Cup, and finished 70th on the money list, receiving the full Tour badge for 2013 as well as participation in invitational tournaments that are reserved for the top 70 earners. Aged 43, 2013, was the first year since the year 1999, Pride was exempt from the PGA Tour.
Pride was diagnosed with serious health issues at the age of 22 (gall bladder, pancreatitis plantar fasciitis, fractured bones) that severely restricted his time on the field. In the following decade, he divided his time playing among both the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. He is a resident of Orlando, Florida, but remains a fervent Crimson Tide fan.

Pride is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was a student at Tuscaloosa Academy and the University of Alabama in Alabama, where he was a part of their golf squad. Pride received the distinction of All-Southeastern Conference his junior and senior years. In Alabama Pride, the student was a part of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was a semifinalist in The 1991 U.S. Amateur. He made the transition to professional in 1992, and played in the 1992 U.S. Open, where he was not able to make the cut.
Pride was an all-time PGA Tour member after his success at the qualifying school in 1993. Pride had his one win to date in the 1994 Federal Express St. Jude Classic which was his 19th PGA Tour start. He took the title with an unpar on the opening extra hole in a playoff in a match against Hal Sutton and Gene Sauers. His best finish at majors was a tie with 28th place at in 2003 at the U.S. Open.
Pride was unable to follow up on his 2012 season and spent much of 2014 and 2015 on the Web.com Tour. He nearly regained his PGA Tour card during the 2014 Web.com Tour Finals, but missed the cut in the last event and finished outside the Top 50. He won the last regular season event during the 2015 season, jumping from 40th to fifth on the money list for his first professional win in 21 years and earning a PGA Tour card for the 2015–16 season.
