The daughter is the former MLB players Delino DeShields, and is her younger sibling of MLB athlete Delino DeShields Jr.

DeShields recorded 25 points in in her debut postseason game for the first time in the 11th of September, 2019, when she scored 25 points in the Chicago Sky defeated the Phoenix Mercury with a score of 105-76. The score was fifth in points recorded by the WNBA player during a postseason debut in the history of the league.

DeShields was selected to the Chicago Sky with the 3rd selection in the 2017 WNBA draft. In her first year in the WNBA she averaged 14.4 point per game, she played in 33 of 33 games she played. She was selected on the All-Rookie Team.

She was a graduate of Norcross High School in Norcross, Georgia. As a player on the basketball squad, she was member of three state champions as well as averaged 26.8 points during the final year of her high school. DeShields was a student at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a in the guard position for the North Carolina Tar Heels women’s basketball team in her first year in college. DeShields joined Cukurova Basketbol Mersin of the Turkish Women’s Basketball League, which she played in, averaging 17.4 scores, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.

In 2019, her sophomore season, DeShields was named a WNBA All-Star. During the All-Star Weekend, she won the Skills Challenge, beating out Jonquel Jones in the final round.
