Dennis Alan Felton (born June 21 1963) is a famous American basketball coach, who is also an associate coach for Fordham University. Felton was the head basketball coach for men of The University of Georgia, Western Kentucky University and Cleveland State, and also worked as a player’s advisor for the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs.

In April 2003, Felton was appointed director of coaching at University of Georgia. Felton also brought the assistant coaches Bert Tucker and Ken McDonald and the assistant head coach Pete Herrmann with him to Athens.

During the 2009–2010 NBA season, Felton served on the scouting staff for the Phoenix Suns, mainly observing NCAA games in the Southeast. He was also a part of the Suns’ war room during the NBA draft in June 2010, led by General Manager Steve Kerr and head coach Alvin Gentry.

On January 29, 2009, Dennis Felton was fired as head coach of the UGA Men’s Basketball team. Felton was born in Tokyo, Japan and spent his early years in and traveling to a variety of locations around the globe because of his father’s job as a pilot in the United States Air Force. The family eventually relocated into Clinton, Maryland, a suburb of the Washington, D.C., area, which is just a short distance away from Andrews Air Force Base. Felton was a graduate of Surrattsville High School, in the year 1981. He then was accepted into Prince George’s Community College. He concluded his athletic and academic studies in the University of Howard. Howard University in 1985, where Felton was named an Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All-Academic selection.

Felton began his journey into the coaching industry in the role of an assistant basketball coach Oxon Hill High School in 1984. Then, he became an associate coach for Charles County Community College, for a single year (1985-86) before transferring to the University of Delaware as an assistant coach for four seasons (1986-90). Felton continued his college career with a single season with Tulane University and St. Joseph’s University. He joined the university in 1992 and accepted the post of assistant in Providence College under Rick Barnes. This season was the start of a 6-year apprenticeship under Barnes which included two years as a coach with his team the Friars and four with Clemson University (1994-98). The six teams Barnes and Felton were able to coach together had wins in their season (including three 20-win seasons) All of them played at the end of the season (four NCAA berths, two in the NIT) and finished on a 114-71 record, with an average of 19 wins per season.

Felton is married to the former Melanie Smith, who is also a Howard alumna. The couple reside in Milton, Georgia with their two sons, Jazz and Nile. Jazz and Nile are both basketball players. Jazz was a part of Milton High School’s state championship team as a freshman in 2009–2010. Jazz will attend WKU and will serve on Ray Harper’s coaching staff.
