Denise Lewis, OBE (born 27 August 1972) is a British female presenter of sports and a the former track and field player, who is a specialist in the discipline of heptathlon. She took home an Olympic gold medal at the Heptathlon in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, was twice Commonwealth Games champion, was the 1998 European Champion and won World Championships silver medals in 1997 and 1999. Hers was the very first European to be the winner of the Olympic heptathlon although Europeans such as Briton Mary Peters, had been crowned the Olympic pentathlon in the pentathlon precursor event.

The year 2000 saw her awarded her the Freedom of the City of Wolverhampton. In 2010 Lewis was admitted into the Wolverhampton Sporting Hall of Fame and in the year 2011 she was admitted into the England Athletics Hall of Fame. in 2013, Lewis got a special recognition at the Wolverhampton Famous Sons & Daughters Awards ceremony. The following year, Lewis was awarded with an honorary doctorate from Wolverhampton’s University of Wolverhampton.
