On September 17, in 2008 Donlon became the executive director for CBC Radio’s English language service. She resigned from the CBC in August of 2011, and was replaced by her second in command, Chris Boyce. From September 2013 through April of 2014 Donlon was the host of the television show TheZoomer that she co-hosted alongside Conrad Black.

In November 2016, Donlon published an autobiography Fearless as Possible (Under the Circumstances) (ISBN 978-1487000028).

She received the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award at the 2018 Juno Awards for her contributions to the Canadian music industry.

Donlon has been involved in a variety of charity events, including events for the Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative (2008), Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative (2008) as well as President Clinton’s 60th birthday celebration (2007 together with Frank Giustra and Sam Feldman) which raised more than $21 million over the course of one night to support Clinton Global Initiative.
