Denis Grachev is one of the most popular and richest Mixed Martial Artist who was born on August 3, 1982 in Chaykovsky, Russia. Grachev was born in the year 1982, in Chaykovsky, Perm Oblast, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. Grachev began his kickboxing training when he was 14 years old and taught under Gregory Golubkova, Mikhail Stepanov, Alik Basharov, Vyacheslav Tutubalina Yuri Vtyurina and Vladimir Lavrov through the years. As of 2005, Grachev completed his studies at the Chaykovsky State Institute of Physical Culture with the degree of Bachelor’s in Physical Education.

The year 2006 saw Grachev relocated from San Diego, California, United States along with Evgeny Khil, a long-time acquaintance and fellow kickboxerand was appointed by Mark Dion of City Boxing as his manager. Grachev was to represent City Boxing’s professional team, in addition to being the kickboxing instructor at the gym. While competing under international/low kick and full regulations, Grachev also competed in the midst of Muay Thai rules while in the United States. When Grachev first arrived in America, he was not a native of the United States, he had no knowledge of English in any way and was being enrolled in English lessons in San Diego City College by his manager Mark Dion. In the early stages of Grachev’s transition to America United States, he had been playing around with mixed martial arts and boxingthe coach Mark Dion had plans of shifting his career away from kickboxing because there was no money to be made associated with the game. Because of the low popularization of the sport in United States, Denis Grachev finally made the decision to commit full-time to boxing in 2011 . He is training with the former IBF minimalweight champion Manny Melchor. Grachev says he’s always been a fan of boxing, but was forced to switch to kickboxing when growing in Russia since there were no excellent gyms for boxing in Chaykovsky.

On November 29, 2007, Grachev took on WBC Muaythai light heavyweight world champion Joe Schilling — who is currently renowned for being a sparring partner of mixed martial arts world champion Nick Diaz. Grachev defeated Schilling with a 47-second knockout in the first round after Grachev delivered a spinning heel kick to the body, as Schilling was unable to beat the referee’s 10-count. In result, Grachev won IKKC’s vacant U.S. super middleweight national championship.

After moving to the United States in 2006, Grachev competed in his first kickboxing bout under Muay Thai rules against kickboxing legend Manson Gibson on July 7, 2007. The bout was for International Kickboxing Federation’s Muay Thai light cruiserweight world championship. Grachev went on to win the world title with a third round TKO over Gibson after Gibson’s corner threw in the towel from too much punishment.

In the course of his career as a professional fighter during his time in Russia, Grachev competed most of his fights with the World BARS Kickboxing Federation. On the 13th of September on the 13th of September, 2006, he took home the vacant WBKF Commonwealth of Independent States -81 kg title under international/low kick rules after he beat Denis Goncharenko of Belarus.

As a kickboxer amateur, Grachev achieved a record of 123-18, with forty of his wins being won via (T)KO. In the 2004 World Amateur WKA/IAKSA Championships held in Basel, Switzerland — the first world championship of the joint federation and the first joint federation world championship Grachev was awarded the bronze medal, which was awarded under the rules of low kicks and international rules. In the following year, at WAKO’s Amateur World Championships in Szeged, Hungary, Grachev won the gold medal with full contact rules. He also being awarded the title as an International Master of Sport in kickboxing.
