On 24 February 2020, he recorded 21 points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes in an 87–63 victory over Romania during the EuroBasket 2021 qualifiers.

Avdija played football in association until the fourth grade when he began at which point he started focusing on basketball, the game which his father was a professional player.
