Williams went to Berkeley High School and was featured on the PBS Frontline special, School Colors, about race relations within Berkeley High School 40 years following Brown v. Board of Education. Williams was a part of school productions like Day of Absence, A Chorus Line, The Colored Museum and The Wiz. She directed her first stage production Eugene Ionesco’s The Lesson, at 15 when she was an undergraduate at BHS.

Alongside her work in Aces, Aces and Impact, Williams has worked with Woman’s Will, Hampshire Shakespeare Company as well as The Hayward Greek Festival, the San Francisco Young Playwrights Festival, California Conservatory Theatre, Chester Theatre, New World Theater and also worked with the most prestigious local theatres Oregon Shakespeare Festival (Ashland, Oregon), Hartford Stage (Hartford, Connecticut), Shakespeare & Company (Lenox, Massachusetts), TheatreWorks (Palo Alto, California), and California Shakespeare Theater (Berkeley, California). Her main interest for the stage is Shakespearean classics, more heightened performances of language, and magic/heightened realistic, as shown in the following director credit shows: The Winter’s Tale, Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing, Scapin the Cheat, Sleepy, Steel Magnolias, Children of Eden, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Little Shop of Horrors and the Burial of Thebes, My California, Medea, Trojan Women, In the Blood, and The Last of the Ronde. In 2016 Williams was presented with an award from the Princess Grace Foundation, (USA) Fellowship award in theatre. The Fellowship will be used to fund her production in 2017 of Merry Wives of Windsor, at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. From 2014 to 2016 Williams was a resident at OSF as part of the Leadership U Grant administered through the Theatre Communications Group and funded by the Mellon Foundation. Williams was an Director of the 2013 Phil Killian Directing Fellow at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which is the first American operational Elizabethan Stage. Williams was a Directing Fellow at the Drama League of New York One of the four directors chosen for the Directors’ Project for fall. The Resident Director was at the now-defunct Aces Wild Theatre, a touring company that frequently took its performances to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The production of Lisa D’Amour’s Anna Bella Eema traveled to the Fringe in the year 2008, while an adaptation that incorporated The Tempest by Shakespeare The Tempest played the festival in August of 2010. She was previously the Associate Artistic Director at Impact Theatre in Berkeley.
