David Wirrpanda is one of the most popular and richest Australian Rules Footballer who was born on August 3, 1979 in Canton Beach, Australia. David Selwyn Burralung Merringwuy Galarrwuy Wyal Wirrpanda (/w Ir @’p * n d @ Wirr-@-PUN-d@ born on August 3, 1979) is an ex- Australian rules footballer who is famous for his work as a player with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). born in Melbourne, Wirrpanda was raised in Shepparton, Victoria. David was a student at Parkmore Elementary School located within Forest Hill, where in an athletic match for the school, he scored 32 goals in one match. He then went to Worawa Aboriginal College in Healesville founded by the family of his mother’s. He started his football career playing for a local team then he was promoted into being part of the Eastern Ranges team in the under-18 TAC Cup. The club selected him as a player by West Coast during the 1995 draft, Wirrpanda made his debut with the club in the next season. He played the first match for West Coast at the age of 16 years and 268 daysold, Wirrpanda is still the youngest player who has played in a senior match for the club.

Injured in the first couple of seasons Wirrpanda didn’t establish himself as an established player until the early 2000s. He played from the back pocket or on the half-back flank. His outstanding performance in these positions resulted in being selected in the All-Australian team in 2005, and the following year the team was the West Coast premiership side that defeated Sydney in the grand final of 2006. A lot of times, he played in the position of a smaller forward toward the final stages of his career Wirrpanda ended his career at the close in the season of 2009 playing 227 times at the club. After the end in his career Wirrpanda has taken part in charitable activities, including the creation in Wirrpanda Foundation. Wirrpanda Foundation, an organisation which supports Indigenous Australians. Wirrpanda has also voiced an interest in entering politics and unsuccessfully entered the his federal election in 2013 as a candidate for the National Party to Senate. For most of his career, Wirrpanda has been known as “Wirrpunda”, but in 2005 it was pointed out that his actual birth name was Wirrpanda. In the West Australian before the 2006 season Wirrpanda said that he had allowed his name to be misspelt to ensure it was pronounced correctly.

Wirrpanda nearly missed out on the 2006 AFL Grand Final through injury, but came back to take his place in the side. He came in at the expense of Jaymie Graham, who had played every game of that season up until then, and out of respect for his younger teammate, Wirrpanda played in the match with Graham’s

In the middle of 2000 Wirrpanda’s professional career began to take off and he was a regular contributor to the Eagles who primarily played as an insignificant defensive player at the back of the pocket, or as a half back flank. After a good 2004 season, he enjoyed an outstanding 2005 that saw him selected in the All-Australian squad with his trademark clearances from defence were crucial to the Eagles’ success that season. He continued to perform well in 2006, and he celebrated the 150th AFL game with a fantastic performance.
