David Kent Purcey (born April 22nd 1982) is an American former professional baseball player. He was a part of Major League Baseball (MLB) with players from the Toronto Blue Jays, Oakland Athletics, Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox.

Purcey made his debut in the major leagues the 18th of April, 2008. He made his debut pitching in the game against the Detroit Tigers and allowing one earned run in 4 1/3 innings. He was recalled to minor leagues following two appearances in the major leagues and was then called up by Blue Jays Blue Jays in July, and finished 2008 in the starting rotation of the team.

On May 24, 2010, Purcey was recalled by Toronto and moved to the bullpen as a relief pitcher after Dana Eveland was designated for assignment. On July 26, 2010, Purcey recorded his first major league save against the Baltimore Orioles in a 9–5 win.

Purcey signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on December 9, 2011. He also received an invitation to spring training. Purcey spent the year with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, going 1-4 with a 4.37 ERA in 47 games while striking out 63 in 57.2 innings

On August 27 in 2008. Purcey began his start with The Tampa Bay Rays and pitched his first complete game in the major leagues. Purcey registered 11 strikeouts, dispersing five hits in eight innings.
