Ober was not challenged at the time of the May 6 2014 Republican primary. The November 4 primary election of 2014, Ober defeated Democrat Mike Wilber in a rematch in order to gain a second term to the Indiana House of Representatives.
David Ober was appointed by Governor Eric Holcomb on April 2, 2018. He is a member of the NARUC Committee on Water and the Mid-America Regulatory Conference. He also serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Organization of PJM States, Inc. (OPSI) and is Vice-Chair of the National Regulatory Research Institute (NRRI) Board of Directors.
David Ober is a Republican member of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC). In March 2018, Ober was chosen by Governor Eric Holcomb to be a Commissioner on the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. He succeeded Jim Atterholt. Prior to joining the IURC he represented Indiana State House District 82 which includes all of Noble County and portions of Allen, Elkhart, LaGrange and Whitley Counties. He officially resigned from the State House on April 1, 2018 and started his job at IURC the next day.
Rep. Ober has been selected to the House Ways and Means Committee by House Speaker Brian C. Bosma to be a member of the Agriculture and Rural Development, Government and Regulatory Reform, and Employment, Labor and Pensions Committees during the 2013 session of the Indiana General Assembly. Ober has been appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee in December of 2013 to fill the vacancy left due to the demise of Rep. Phyllis Pond (R-New Haven).
