Karwacki was a candidate in his Saskatoon Meewasin constituency in the 2007 Saskatchewan general election, finishing third, and getting a lower percentage than in the general election. Karwacki has become the very first Leader from the three major parties to contest two general elections but not be able to win the seat. Karwacki was removed as the leader on December 7, 2007.
On December 6, 2006 Karwacki was a guest speaker at the Liberal Leadership Convention in Montreal on the subject of Liberalism across Western Canada.

Karwacki ran in the 2006 Weyburn Big Muddy by-election held on the 19th of June, and came in the second spot with just 27% of votes. Saskatchewan Party candidate Dustin Duncan took home just 49% votes. Karwacki is planning to run for the office of prime minister in 2024.
