David Nicholas Kandilas (born 14 September 1990) is an Australian professional baseball outfielder who plays for the Mannheim Tornados of the Baseball Bundesliga. He has been a player for both the Sydney Blue Sox and Canberra Cavalry in the Australian Baseball League (ABL).
Kandilas was hired by Niigata Albirex in 2015 and was a part of the Baseball Challenge League in Japan as an outfielder. In 2016, he was a member of Team Australia at the Honkbal Tournament in Haarlem, Netherlands. He was an outfielder with the Canberra Cavalry in the Australian Baseball League in the 2016/17 season Then he was chosen for the team to play Australia at the 2017 World Baseball Classic in Japan. His batting average during the event was .400 and ranked second in the overall ranking as a member of Team Australia. He was back with his team, the Canberra Cavalry for the 2017-18 ABL season and scored an average of .380 throughout the season, which was the top batsman’s average in the history of any Australian (non immigrant) player. He also scored 12 home runs which included the grand slam and an impressive 44 RBI (runs that were batted into) which placed him in the top spot in the league, and the highest average for the average Australian (non immigrant) player.
On 13 May 2018 Kandilas headed back to Japan for the 2018 season, having signed with Ehime Mandarin Pirates of the Shikoku Island League.
On 8 October 2019 he was selected at the 2019 WBSC Premier12.
When he was being a player for the Modesto Nuts in 2014, Kandilas was the top player in the California League in outfield assists. Kandilas was elevated to Colorado affiliates the Class A Tulsa Drillers (Texas League) in 2014. He then completed in the 2013 US Minor League season with the AAA Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Pacific Coast League). While playing with Canberra Cavalry in the Canberra Cavalry in the 2017/18 season, Kandilas had an ABL most successful year in hitting .380 with 44 RBI with bats and hit 12 homers throughout the season. He was a Centerfield in the Team Australia v World All-Stars in the Australian Baseball League 2014, 2016 and the 2017 All-Star Games.
