David J. Cappiello (born August 15th in 1968) is a businessman and former State Senator from the Connecticut’s 24th Senate District, which comprises the towns that comprise Danbury, New Fairfield, Sherman and a portion of Bethel. In the Senate Cappiello was the Deputy Minority Leader as well as the ranking member for the writing of budgets Appropriations Committee.
He was elected in 1994. was elected to elections to his seat in the Connecticut House of Representatives in the race to fill the seat that was vacant from Republican Mark Nielsen, who was running for the State Senate. He was able to easily be reelected in House of Representatives in State House in 1996.
A strong fiscal conservative, Cappiello was tapped in 2005 to serve as the ranking Republican member of the General Assembly’s Appropriations Committee, which is responsible for writing the state’s biennial budget.
