David Bitan (Hebrew: dvd byTn , born on April 8, 1960) is an Israeli politician and lawyer. He is currently an official in the Knesset for Likud. Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit declared on the 26th of January, 2020 that Bitan will be charged with “bribery, fraud and breach of trust, as well as money laundering and tax offenses” after an investigation.

In October of 2017 Bitan was questioned by the police over alleged corrupt practices. Bitan was believed to have having received money from business people to pay off a huge debt as acting as the Deputy Mayor of Rishon leZion. On the 7th of March, 2019 the Israeli police suggested bribery charges against Bitan. Bitan was appointed the Minister for Agriculture on January 5th, 2020, but resigned 10 January before the Knesset vote on his appointment.

He was ranked in the 21st spot among the Likud list for 2013 Knesset elections However, he was moved to 35th following the fact that Likud accepted to have a joint list of candidates together with Yisrael Beiteinu. The alliance won 31 , Bitan didn’t become the first Knesset member. Prior to the 2015 elections, the party was placed at 16th place on the Likud list, and was elected to the spot designated for coastal plains. In 2015, he was appointed to the Knesset because Likud gained 30 seats.
