Nakama (born on August 9 1962) is An American professional baseball player from the college level currently an assistant coach on a volunteer basis at Washington.

Between 1999 and in 2001 Nakama played as the head of coaching in the Pac-12 from 1999 until 2001. San Francisco State. Nakama was back in the Pac-12 as the top assistant at Stanford prior to his move to Washington. Nakama was then back at Stanford as an assistant coach which he held between 2002 and 2009. He later becoming an assistant to Lindsay Meggs’s team in Washington from 2010 until 2012. Meggs officially appointed Nakama the head coach’s assistant on September 2nd on the 2nd of September, 2011.

Nakama returned to the junior college level on September 23, 2016, when Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon hired him as head coach.

On July 24, 2017, Nakama returned to Washington to be a volunteer assistant coach for his second stint working under Lindsay Meggs.

The year 1991 was the time that Nakama took his first head coaching job at Mission College in Santa Clara, California, where he was a part-time coach for five years. He played Mission towards the national junior college championship between 1995 and 1996, and was awarded Coast Conference Coach of the Year awards in 1996. Nakama was hired by Stanford in the role of an assistant coach to Mark Marquess in 1997.

Nakama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Nakama graduated from Kaiser High School. He relocated to Oregon to attend Willamette University and played at infielder for the Willamette Bearcats baseball team. Nakama was able to graduate at Willamette at the age of 14 with an undergraduate degree in physical education. He then obtained a master’s degree in the same area in the University of Northern Colorado in 1986.

Nakama worked as an assistant at Northern Colorado in 1985 until 1986, while completing finishing his Master’s Degree. Later, he was the assistant for Iowa (1987 until 1988) and then transferred into the junior college to work as an assistant for Yavapai (1989 until 1989) as well as De Anza (1991).

In September 2012, Nakama was named head coach at San Jose State, his first Division I head coaching job. Nakama’s time at San Jose State ended in June 2016, following a 66–162 record in four seasons; San Jose State declined to renew Nakama’s contract.
