Formerly, he was the artistic director for Western Canada Theatre located located in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada He was appointed as the artistic director of the Citadel Theatre situated in Edmonton, AB, Canada and succeeded Bob Baker, in September 2016.
As a drummer, Daryl Cloran was given an opportunity to develop the musical spectacle, Drum!. The original director was Tim French, Cloran took charge of the project, taking over throughout North America. Cloran designed a tour model to be used at the Winter Olympics, and a following showcase at Dollywood.
Daryl Cloran’s first regional artistic directorship was with Theatre and Company in Kitchener-Waterloo. Next, Daryl took on the role of New Play Development Coordinator at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival where he also worked as assistant director to Artistic Director Des McAnuff. He was invited back for a second season before being offered and accepting the job as Artistic Director at Western Canada Theatre. In those two seasons, he assisted on Caesar and Cleopatra and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
Alongside Anita Doran and Mateo Guez, Daryl Cloran co-wrote and directed the interactive film Late Fragment. Each of the filmmakers took on the task of creating a three-quarters of the movie, while working in tandem with producer Ana Serrano, to weave the story’s threads and construct the framework through which viewers would be able to navigate the film. Late Fragment premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2007. The film was recognized as the first in North America to be an animated film. It was created through the Canadian Film Centre and the National Film Board of Canada.
