Her grandpa, Mohammed Yusuf, was the prime minister in Afghanistan from 1963 until 1965. They are married Said Gafurov. She completed her studies as an ethnologist and historian at the Faculty of History of the Moscow State University in 1995 .
Since 2014, she’s been the Secretary responsible for international issues of the Party and a member of the Political committee in the United Communist Party (Russia).
In May-August 2014 Mitina was the Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic in Moscow.
