Danon was born in Ramat Gan to Yosef and Yoheved Danon. Danon’s father was born in Egypt and moved to Israel in the year 1950. Danon was wounded severely during the Jordan Valley during the War of Attrition and passed away at the age of Danny was just 13 years old. Danon was a student at Blich High School and was an active member in Betar. In the internal primary elections to The Likud Party slate in 2006, Danon was elected to the twenty-third position. At the General Elections of the 17th Knesset the Likud did not win any seats which meant that Danon did not make it into the Knesset. The following the same year Danon was a candidate against MK Yuval Steinitz for the position as the Chairman of the World Likud. In this new position, Danon assumed responsibility for the Likud’s Israel advocacy activities as well as the international relations of the Likud movement and was focused on establishing connections with communities that support Israel all over the world.

In July 2007, Danon, described as one of Benjamin Netanyahu’s biggest critics from within the Likud, declared his candidacy for the Likud leadership elections. He eventually finished third. In 2008, Danon filed a petition to the Israeli High Court of Justice to rescind the citizenship of former MK Azmi Bishara, who fled Israel after he was suspected of aiding Hezbollah, an enemy organization of Israel, during the 2006 Lebanon War. The petition was rejected.

On December 8, 2008, Danon was elected to the twenty-fourth place on the Likud slate for the upcoming election. In the general elections the Likud party won twenty-seven seats, and Danon was sworn in as a Member of the Knesset.

From 2004 until in 2009 Danon was the chairperson of the Likud faction within the World Zionist Organization. His duties included encouraging the aliyah of Israel and fighting antisemitism. Danon was also a member of director’s board for the Jewish Agency, establishing policy goals, goals and overseeing the activities that was carried out by the Agency.

Danny Danon (Hebrew: dny DNVN, born on May 8, 1971) is Israel’s Permanent Representative to United Nations. Danon was previously one of Israel’s members in the Knesset of the Likud Party, as Minister of Science, Technology and Space and as the Deputy Minister of Defense. In the 18th Knesset, Danon served as Deputy Speaker, Chair the Special Committee on the Rights of the Child and chair of the Committee for Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs. In June of 2016, Danon was elected as the chair of the United Nations’ Legal Committee, the first Israeli to hold the post.

In 2013, Danon asserted that the Likud party has no place for anyone supporting a peace agreement with the Palestinians. He is opposed to a two- state solution. He argues for extending Israeli sovereignty over the majority of the West Bank. Two year prior, in May 2011, Danon advocated that Israel annex all West Bank settlements and “uninhabited areas”.
