Daniel Hugh Boone (born January 14th 1954) was an ex-professional baseball player. He played in three seasons with Major League Baseball, appearing in 1982, 1981, and 1990. Most likely, he is best remembered for the gap of eight years between his Major League stints and for the unlikely return that brought him back to join his team the Baltimore Orioles in 1990.
In 1989, an entirely new league was launched which gave Boone the chance to begin a fresh chapter in his career and that was The Senior Professional Baseball Association. Boone was signed up with Bradenton Explorers. Bradenton Explorers, where he showcased a brand new pitch that he had in his arsenal that was called the Knuckleball. He was able to pitch good enough to the team (4-3, 3.16 ERA) to receive a contract from the Orioles In September of 1990, he returned in the major leagues. Boone started the following year with the Padres too, however, he was a bit sluggish, only making 10 appearances in the initial 2 months. On June 8 he was traded with the Houston Astros for infielder Joe Pittman and, after brief appearances in June, he was sent back into the minors. Following a call-up in September in 1983, he began his 1983 season in the minors and then was let go in the month of June.

Following his graduation from Cal State Fullerton, Boone was chosen in the 2nd stage of the Major League Baseball Draft by the California Angels, who were then in the process of being formed.
