Zamora was a student at Bishop Amat High School in La Puente, California. Zamora was picked in the 27th selection by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2012 MLB draft but did not make the cut. Zamora was selected on the America East All-Conference First Team and led the conference in strikeouts while also aiding Stony Brook to win the conference championship and make it to in the NCAA Tournament. In 2013, Zamora played collegiate winter baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Orleans Firebirds, and returned to the league in 2015 to play for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.
